In the American Anthropologist of July-September 1943, Leslie A. White published an important paper titled “Energy and the Evolution of Culture.” In his article, Professor White explained that cultures progress as they are able to harness additional sources of energy. For example, when people had to do all their work with their hands, they lived very primitive lives. The adoption of horse labor enabled them to progress, by harnessing the energy of horses. Then steam power gave a big boost to society, by providing the energy of steam engines for powering trains, electrical generators and the first tractors. After that, we discovered petroleum and hydroelectric power, which brought great strides forward for our culture, opening up the civilization we have come to know today. So tremendous progress has resulted, step by step, from increasingly plentiful energy resources.
Today, our leaders are taking those vital sources of energy away. They pretend to replace them with “green alternatives,” which cannot deliver as much reliable, affordable energy. This turns back progress, preventing us from maintaining and expanding our civilized way of life. Now let’s think about that. If increased energy supplies advance culture, then taking them away means closing civilization down and leaving us helpless. It’s just that simple.
If I can read Professor White’s article, can our leaders? Of course they can. They are knowingly primitivizing our culture, to lead us backward, instead of forward. There is a reason Third World countries want more and more petroleum. They want to live in civilization, as we have done. Instead of encouraging this, our leaders are leading us back into a Third World culture too.
Abundant energy supplies are God’s gift to us, to lighten the burdens of life and deliver us from harsh conditions. We needn’t read very far in the Bible to learn this. In Genesis chapter 1, verse 28, God gave Adam, the first of our people, dominion over the earth and everything in it. Whoever removes these gifts is therefore doing the work of the devil, to utterly destroy what is left of Christian civilization.
While we’re discussing anthropology, let’s take a look at agriculture. There is another rule in anthropology which states that there can be no advanced civilization without advanced agriculture. Advanced agriculture means that a few farmers can feed a much larger population. As such, the main body of people is freed from the need to grow their food, so they can devote their time to science or other jobs that empower our culture. Again, if I can read this rule, can our leaders? Of course they can. They all went to university. Now let’s look at what a bunch of them have planned.
Now you see it, now you don’t. The Canadian government of Justin Trudeau is planning to reduce the fertilizer supplies of our farmers by one third. Meanwhile, farms in Holland, which produce much of Europe’s food, are being closed by the Dutch government. Curbing cattle ranching is spoken of seriously in the media. All this means that food production will be reduced, bringing higher food prices and food scarcity.
Some folks might object here that chemically fertilized food is unhealthy and what we really need is organic food. I agree. But the transition from chemical to organic farming takes many years and would require careful, government programs to implement, without risking food shortages. Simply banning, or removing chemical fertilizer would produce mass starvation, here at home and around the world. Our leaders have no such plan for a smooth transition from chemical to organic. production. That means advanced agriculture is simply being stopped, bringing inevitable hunger and the end of our advanced civilization.
This comes at a time when many, many of our food processing plants have been destroyed by fire. For example, the largest egg producer in the USA has been burned, bringing a severe shortage of that food in America. On top of all this, our factories, which provided national security and good jobs, have been moved to China. If you think it’s mere coincidence that food processing plants are being destroyed at the same time that fertilizer is being restricted and our industrial jobs are sent overseas, I have a bridge to sell you.
We are now in a position to see that our civilization is being systematically shut down by the establishment. God allows it to happen, because everyone, including the church, has gotten a long way from God’s rules. The devil’s going to dog us for awhile, until we wake up and then we’ll have opportunity to build a fairer civilization of continual progress. To learn how that will happen, I invite you to read my independent book, The Death and Resurrection of the West Foretold in Prophecy, which is available on this website.
